Anchored by three full-service hotels: Grand Lodge, Lodge at Mountaineer Square, and the Elevation Hotel & Spa, the base village at Mt. Crested Butte is where the vast majority of the lodging is located. In addition to these signature hotels, a variety of condominium properties frame the base of mountain with many offering either ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes or located within a short walk. Several condominium and townhome complexes are within a three minute shuttle of the lifts in the base area, and these properties typically offer the most economical options. Ranging in quality and size with price points to meet most every budget, the lodging offerings in the base village are mostly fully equipped with all of the comforts of home allowing vacationers to prepare meals in your accommodations if you so choose. While the vast majority of the accommodations are comfortably appointed moderate to upper moderate rated condos, there are many luxury lodging options and some private residences in the base area for those who appreciate more refined accommodations.
Town/Base Village
Small town meets big mountain in Crested Butte. Separated by a two mile road, Mt. Crested Butte and downtown Crested Butte combine to offer a complete vacation experience. Most visitors to Crested Butte stay at the base of the mountain, play on the mountain, and party in town with free shuttle service providing convenient transport between the two. All of the skier services are in the base village as well as a number of shops, restaurants offering casual fare for all meals throughout the day, and several rocking apres bars.
It might be small, but downtown Crested Butte is mighty and packs a lot into its half mile long “Main Street”, Elk Avenue. Featuring a collection of fun and unique shops, museums, galleries, and night spots, Elk Ave. is also home to an array of exceptional dining establishments with tastes from around the world including American, Italian, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, French, and more. It is hard to believe that in a small town like Crested Butte you have your choice from three sushi restaurants and six pizza places (do not miss the iconic Secret Stash), can experience a rum distillery and an upscale wine bar, and enjoy incredible artists playing live music nightly.
